Who I Am

I have been an active member of the Buffalo, New York photographic and visual arts community for over five years.  My medium is black and white photography, and I have exhibited widely on the local and regional level.  My works have been part of the Members Show of the Western New York Artists Group (WNYAG) at Art Dialogue Gallery in Buffalo, as well as the "18th Annual Valentine Exhibition - I Love Buffalo," also under the aegis of WNYAG.  For the past four years, I've been an exhibitor at the Annual Art Show of Locust Street Art, a community resource for art instruction and presentation.  My works have been part of "East Aurora: An Architectural Legacy" and "The Elegance of Water" at the Springville, New York Center for the Arts, in addition to "Allentown Invitational: Art on Wheels" at El Museo Diego Rivera y Francisco Oller in Buffalo.

I am especially proud to have been the featured artist in a group show, "Views in Black & White," at College Street Gallery in Buffalo.  During the summer of 2005, I had my first one-woman show at the City of Light Cafe on the grounds of the Lily Dale Assembly in Lily Dale, New York.  A number of my photographs have been on display as part of the exhibit "Juneteenth: A Peek into 30 Years" at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.

I am a teacher with Buffalo Public Schools, and I hold a Masters Degree in Education from State University of New York College at Buffalo.  My educational background also includes numerous classes to expand my photographic expertise.  I have studied macro photography, lighting, and architectural photography under nationally known instructor Bonita Chimes.  I have also taken part in photography seminars offered in Niagara Falls, Ontario through the Niagara Frontier Regional Camera Club. I've recently become affiliated with the Camera Club of the Buffalo Museum of Science, a pre-eminent local photography group.

I have never been content to "rest on my laurels." I'm always eager to explore new subject matter for my photographs and new ways to present my images.  It is this spirit of innovation that has brought me to my current project: a book incorporating a number of my photographs with textual commentary.

Although the subject matter of  my work is wide-ranging, I specialize in photographs that explore the structural elements inherent in both nature and architecture.  No matter what image comprises an individual photograph, my eye - and lens - are always focused on composition, detail, and the interplay of light and shadow. It is my wish that you will find my photographs a pleasure to view time and time again.
